Latest news on Landslide in the Manawatu Gorge:
An ongoing series of slips, over many years and since Aug 2011, have HELiPRO once again assisting Higgins contracting to stabilise this landslide. Prior to the ‘benching’ HELiPRO dropped over 1,000,000L of water to ‘sluice’ away the loose materials after which diggers and bulldozers where placed on the top of the slip to remove more loose materials and secure this unstable face from the top down by creating a series of benches. HELiPRO have assisted by lifting digger equipment and fuel on and off the benches as they worked their way down.
